Deposit, Loss & Time Limits
A weekly deposit limit is mandatory. Loss and time limits are on by default. Set them so your play stays planned and within your budget.

1. Why limits help
Deciding in advance how much money and time you want to spend is one of the most effective ways to keep gambling enjoyable. A limit you set calmly protects you from in-the-moment decisions and makes it easier to treat play as entertainment with a planned cost, not a way to chase losses. GameSense limits are free and private. Setting a weekly deposit limit is not optional: it is a mandatory step when you create your account.

2. Deposit limits
You must set a weekly deposit limit when you register. Until you do, the account is created in a "cannot play" state and cannot be used to play. The weekly limit can be anything from $1 to $100,000, in steps of $1. You can add a daily or monthly cap on top of it — for example a smaller daily cap within a larger weekly one — to match the budget that works for you. Once a deposit limit is reached, you cannot add more funds until the period resets. All amounts are in Canadian dollars (CAD).

3. Loss and time limits are on by default
Under Standard 3.8 of the RG Standards for Internet Gambling, loss limits, time limits (daily, weekly and monthly) and time-outs are switched on by default when your account is created. You can change any of them, and you can opt out of any of them — but opting out takes an active step from you, and we will never quietly leave one of these protections off. A time limit signs you out or blocks new play once the period is used up.

4. Reality checks
Display of how long you have been playing and of your net position for the session is switched on by default. You may change the interval to suit you; it cannot be switched off entirely. These reminders help you stay aware of time and spend, take regular breaks, and keep gambling balanced with the rest of your day.

5. Lowering and raising a limit
Lowering a limit, or making it stricter, takes effect immediately. Raising or removing a limit takes effect only after a waiting period of 24 hours, so a decision made in the moment cannot override one you made calmly. During those 24 hours the old, stricter limit stays in force, and you can cancel the pending change at any time. This waiting period is a deliberate safeguard.
